Sorie Kamara, widely respected as one of Sierra Leone’s leading figures in volleyball development, has achieved another milestone in his distinguished career. The Fédération

de Volleyball (FIVB) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) have officially recognized him as a local instructor for the National Olympic Committee of Sierra Leone (NOC-SL)—a remarkable step that positions him to become an international instructor by next year.

Kamara currently serves as the expert for an FIVB-approved Knowledge Transfer Project, where he leads the training of regional technical directors across the country. His dedication to education and technical excellence has made him a cornerstone of volleyball’s growth in Sierra Leone and across CAVB Zone 2, where he also serves as Technical Director.

Recently, Kamara conducted a successful course for TAFISA (The Association For International Sport for All), further solidifying his influence in sports development and community engagement. In addition, he has been appointed as one of the local instructors for the Development of National Sport Systems (DNSS) program, focusing on strengthening volleyball structures and coaching frameworks nationwide.

On October 3rd, Kamara will deliver a keynote address to the Athletes’ Commission of Sierra Leone, focusing on athlete transition and mentoring—a crucial topic that helps athletes navigate life after competition. His efforts continue to inspire the next generation of Sierra Leonean athletes, coaches, and sports administrators, proving that dedication, education, and mentorship can elevate sports beyond the court.
